Ghosts of War is an online gaming community with a focus on MMORPGs, but our membership branches to all forms of video games. Our core, founding membership has roots in games like Ultima Online, Asheron’s Call, Dark Age of Camelot, EverQuest, Lineage, Shadowbane and Anarchy Online.
GoW’s roots come from open PvP games where corpse looting, siege warfare, and open world group combat were the rule rather than the exception. This is what brought the guild together in Shadowbane in 2003 on the War server, where most of our core members played together under several different leaders and guild tags until the server closed.
In October 2003, Ghosts of War was officially born in it's current form on the Corruption server – and the guild is named in memory of the server where the founders met and learned the game. After a short stint on Corruption, the guild moved to the Cataclysm server followed by the Entropy server – where the central, “undead island” was controlled by GoW from server launch to when the server closed down. GoW continued to play on several other servers until Shadowbane was shut down in 2009, with other divisions of the guild being added as our membership grew and we expanded into other games like WoW, RIFT, Age of Conan, and Guild Wars.
From our founding until today, GoW has played over three dozen MMO games and participated in over 20 Alpha and Beta tests. During this period we’ve also played RTS, MOBA, FPS and Console games and expanded our membership, but the original core (over 15 players from our founding) continues to play as a group.
We are a mature (18+) gaming community with a strong active duty and former US Military membership that plays games to relax and have fun in a relatively low stress environment. We aren’t forum warriors, smack talkers or attention whores – and we actively discourage these traits from rearing their head.
We use the latest in voip and social media tech to streamline communication and organization to our membership, from our custom build website and forums, GameVox VOIP, Slack, Voxer, and Tapatalk to Facebook and Twitter to make sure we get the word out on what we're doing when we AREN'T streaming on Twitch.
If you are interested in joining a guild that isn’t full of attention whores - where the leadership doesn’t charge taxes for being a member or hoard the good loot for themselves, and who strives to continuously learn, adapt and excel in the games we play – we encourage you to register and apply.
